CONTEXT

Tourisme aérien Laurentides is working to expand access to the greater Mont-Tremblant region via air connections. Together with its various partners, it strives to attract tourists from outside Quebec to the Mont-Tremblant International Airport — La Macaza. In recent years, the airport has seen a decline in the number of flights and consequently in the volume of passengers, despite numerous marketing efforts in target markets. The time had come for the Board of Directors to proceed with strategic thinking and to evaluate the various avenues of development for the future of the organization.

APPROACH

To achieve the strategic development plan for Tourisme aérien Laurentides, TouriScope relied on a rigorous method. The approach included:

- An in-depth analysis of the business environment, tourism offer and customer profiles
- A benchmark study of inspiring destinations
- A trend study Primary data were collected through one-on-one interviews with about 15 key stakeholders and a survey of potential customers.

To support its research and recommendations, TouriScope has collaborated with international aviation experts. A workshop to identify and validate the guidelines brought stakeholders together.

RESULTS

The strategic plan has been presented and approved by stakeholders. The three-year action plan clearly identifies the roles and responsibilities of each in deploying the strategy to ensure its success. However, the context of the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily suspended the implementation of the plan.
